Great, but what is the betoken of a photorealistic cartoon, when you can take a photo instead? When cartoon, the author should practise something that can not be done with a photographic camera. Don't hate on me, it is nevertheless an astonishing work.

It's simply a showcase of skills, merely I hold with you completely. Except for the craft aspect I don't run into any other creative value in this. The image itself is pretty meaningless, information technology'southward a typical commercial stock image that you would notice on the groundwork of a health spa website. Anyhow it's clear that by looking at his website he's still developing the conceptual part of his artist being.

Not bad skill.. but a pointless one I share. This is useful when you are combining several elements and want to make them wait 'existent' only as some other poster pointed out… just copying what's already in a photo with admittedly no changes whatsoever isn't creative at all.
I estimate that's the real deviation between art and skill.

My question, is this a real person IN the cartoon? or did he fabricate her? Because that would actually be cool to draw something that looks similar a real person that isn't based on a real person at all…

Talent level is unreal but I hold with the others; 200 hours to recreate a photo taken in a split 2d. Seems like a waste.

Based on how he'due south drawing it–starting from acme left corner–he's surely working off a photo. That's not how you'd draw something from scratch from your imagination.

one. The point is to show his skill at photorealism and/or patience.
two. Art is a lie.
3. Everything in life is a waste product of time.
Quantifying art is a contradiction in terms. I similar it. Is it fine art? Who cares. It'due south impressive.

i watched this documentary flick titled, "Waiting for Hockney". the movie follows this creative person dude who spend 10 years to draw a photo of Marilyn Monroe. it is kind of a interesting story and worth watching to impale time or something. this made me think of that movie.

I would say this skill is very useful when an artist wants to describe something, that does not be in this world, really realistic.

Douglas Adams said that at that place was no art because there was no mirror large plenty to reverberate information technology completely. When Derren Brownish does something photo realistically he still interprets when to drib out particular as the heart does naturally or when Chuck Shut used his own Hassleblad photos to piece of work from he knew what he wanted the viewer to encounter and made sure you saw it. What does this savant prove with his uncanny mimicry? It'southward marvelous and dead, done in a manner like an inkjet printer.Art is usually allegorical- what is this human being saying? Fine art tin can be emotional- what does he feel? Art shows mastery- how is this more than astute propeceptual dexterity?

This is non a waste matter of time. Who cares how long it took. He is practicing his art.
It'south less of a waste of fourth dimension and so sitting on the internet calling it a waste of fourth dimension.
Y'all guys are ridiculous. This is amazing.

So many people talking about how pointless this skill is or this type of art is… evidently you are the people who do not become it. If I have to explain it to you and then yous probably will never become it and it is non for you. DOnt get me wrong, i am non putting you down, i am putting downwards the fact that y'all are putting downwards this artwork and skillset. I can guarantee if you put a photograph side by side to this yeah it does await the same only at the same fourth dimension it looks dissimilar, there is a specific type of life backside photorealistic art, a capture of history in time… non to be put into words but to exist felt. Move on if you lot experience this there is nothing special nearly the art or discipline but exercise non post meaningless comments or opinions.
