You can really let your imagination go wild when designing a crown! And you don't have to be a primary blacksmith to create your own crown—you can simply draw information technology!
In this tutorial, I'll show you how to draw a classic crown with 8 arches—how to program its structure and how to decorate information technology with ornaments and jewels. You can follow my steps direct or merely in office, to create your ain fantastic design!
1. How to Start a Drawing of a Crown
Step ane
Describe a vertical line. This volition be the line of symmetry for our crown.
Step 2
Draw an ellipse on the bottom.
Step 3
Depict an identical ellipse a fleck higher. Together they'll create the "band" on the bottom of the crown.
Step 4
Draw ii more ellipses inside, a little farther from the previous ones. Nosotros'll utilize these for ornamentation later.
Footstep 5
Depict a horizontal line over the ellipses. Connect it to their sides.
Step 6
Draw another, shorter horizontal line to a higher place and connect it to the previous ane.
Step seven
Draw ellipses around these lines. Their shape should be similar to the ones on the lesser.
Stride eight
Connect both ellipses with curves.
Step 9
Our crown will accept viii curved "arches"—two of them on the sides, which nosotros already have, two in the front and back (which are simply vertical lines), and four in between. To find a proper identify for them, draw a marker on each ellipse—utilize the same proportions each time.
Step 10
Depict a bend through these marks. Its shape should be a transition betwixt the side curve and front end curve (a line).
Step eleven
Draw the back curves the same fashion.
Step 12
The arches need to connect at a single point, angle slightly in the middle. Draw this surface area as an ellipse, slightly lower than the top one.
Step xiii
Draw an octagon in this ellipse—one side for each arch.
Step 14
"Copy" each side of the octagon along its corresponding bend to define the width of the whole arch.
Step 15
You tin can draw many of the width-defining lines to better see the shape of the arch earlier you endeavor to draw it.
Step 16
Outline the arches.
Pace 17
Describe the arches in the back the same way.
Step 18
Draw a circumvolve on top of the crown.
Stride 19
Cross it with two ellipses to ameliorate mark its 3D shape.
ii. How to Decorate a Crown
Step i
Nosotros tin can decorate the crown even so we want, but the primal is to keep these decorations consistent. Sketch some guide lines to fix equal proportions for each curvation.
Footstep 2
Depict circles in these guide lines, changing them to ellipses in perspective.
Step 3
Depict a band within each arch, most one-quarter of the fashion from each side.
Step 4
Draw a "petal" within these guide lines.
Stride 5
Draw two vertical guide lines right next to the arches.
Step 6
Add together some horizontal guide lines to depict the side petals of this ornamental flower.
Step 7
Add two vertical guide lines below, creating a narrow band.
Step eight
Draw the bottom of the flower here.
Step 9
"Demark" the petals in the centre.
Step x
Depict decorative grooves over the crown's primary band.
Footstep xi
Depict a cross on top of the crown.
Stride 12
Let's add thin decorative bands on the arches and the ball.
Step xiii
Make full these bands with tiny gilt pearls.
Step 14
Allow's add some little prongs to brand the lesser more than interesting.
Step 15
The within of the crown is oftentimes filled with a cloth "cap". Draw its outline.
3. How to Add Jewels to the Crown
Stride 1
Finally, the most fun part! Permit's add some shiny jewels. Depict circles correct nether each arch (turn them into ellipses in perspective).
You can learn about drawing dissimilar crystals/diamonds from these tutorials:
Pace 2
Depict a smaller circle/ellipse inside—the flat top of the jewel. Because it'south higher than the previous circle, it should also "move away" from the center as the perspective shifts.
Stride 3
Draw an octagon within each little circle.
Step 4
Draw lines going from the corners of the octagon. Follow the perspective—these lines mark the slanted sides of the precious stone.
Step 5
Add pearls betwixt these jewels.
Stride vi
The arches shouldn't stay empty, either. Draw some guide lines on them first.
Step 7
Draw rectangles in these guide lines.
Footstep eight
Draw smaller, shifted rectangles inside.
Stride 9
Describe the slanted edges.
Pace 10
Each jewel can exist surrounded with smaller jewels—footling "pearls"...
... or even little crystals:
Pace 11
Finally, outline the whole crown with ink and erase the guide lines.
Good Job!
